“Think Energy, Think Life”

Mkaa Hai is a local Tanzanian brand of affordable eco-friendly briquettes made from charcoal dust ,rice husks and sawdust, producing a hot, long lasting and virtually smokeless fire for household, commercial and institutional use.
The Swahili name ‘Mkaa Hai’ translates to ‘Charcoal with life’, a key value proposition for Tanzanian and global users on the desirable potentials for sustainability and environmental affluence provided by this alternative energy source.
In Tanzania and many other developing countries, increasing costs for access of energy are directly related to poverty and severe deforestation. With over 60% of households in Tanzania still using firewood, Mkaa Hai fills in the gaps of un-sustainability and un-affordable energy for the majority.
Our aim is to contribute towards economic relief by addressing communities on energy accessibility issues through active engagement of youths and women, the two groups that are directly impacted.
